Event Description: A unique opportunity to learn from prominent and internationally respected speakers on topics that increasingly affect mental health practice
Professionals of mental health disciplines will have a unique opportunity to explore current theory, research and treatment regarding early complex attachment ruptures and trauma during childhood, familial stressors and psychological arrest and their association to adult behavioral disorders and addictions. Areas of adult and adolescent focus will include - Eating Disorders, Self-Harm, Sex Addiction, Disordered Intimacy, Substance Abuse and related co-morbid conditions.
Adult and adolescent addictions (process and substance) along with other self-destructive and self-sabotaging behaviors have been described through theoretical lenses such as biological pre-dispositions and/or cognitive issues (what is learned and becomes patterned over time.)
Looking through the theoretical lens of early trauma and related attachment ruptures/losses offers insight in to how human beings respond psychologically and interpersonally later in life and what defenses are used to cope. Meaning simply that for some individuals symptoms serve purposes and are both adaptive and adaptations.
