Event Description: This three-part webinar series will offer counseling, mental health, social work and school counseling students, behavioral health and opioid/substance use professionals, field instructors, and community partners to hear from experts, agencies, and student participants. Each webinar will provide current evidence-informed information addressing the needs of culturally specific care in communities of color; the impact of COVID-19 in delivering services; social justice and equity; each through an interdisciplinary lens of prevention, treatment, and recovery.
The webinar series provides attendees with immediate adaptation and application for improved health/mental health and school counseling outcomes for patients, families, and providers.

Jointly provided by North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University Opioid Workforce Expansion Program and Northwest Area Health Education Center (AHEC), a program of Wake Forest School of medicine and a part of the North Carolina AHEC System.

Objectives

Discuss and identify evidence-informed approaches for OUD/SUD prevention, treatment, and recovery from a cultural lens of social justice, equity, and community.

Discuss the training modality of three unique agencies in the area of prevention, treatment, and recovery from a lens of social justice, equity, and community.

Identify the importance and need of culturally trained professionals working with OUD/SUD prevention, treatment, and recovery from a cultural lens of social justice, equity, and community.

Audience

This program will benefit future behavioral health practitioners, social workers, social services personnel, opioid/substance use counselors, counseling, psychology and social work faculty, administrators, and clinicians, including psychologists, therapists, and others interested in opioid use and substance abuse use disorders.
