Event Description: This continuing medical education activity is intended for pediatricians, as well as family medicine physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners and nurses who provide care to infants, children and adolescents.
Objectives
The epidemiology, pathogenesis, and natural history of infantile hemangiomas.
Indications for treatment of patients with infantile hemangiomas and other vascular anomalies.
Dosing, monitoring, and potential side effects of propranolol.
Understand allergy testing and pediatrics.
Learn some pearls about allergy testing and management.
Identify the DSM-V criteria and clinical features of anorexia and bulimia.
Summarize the criteria for inpatient admission for eating disorders.
List three roles of a pediatrician in outpatient treatment of eating disorders.
Discuss national and local burden of firearm injuries and deaths.
Review 6 steps to increase firearm screening & safe storage.
Explore avenues for advocacy.
Perform focused joint exams.
Conduct preliminary evaluation for systemic lupus or vasculitis.
Recognize recurrent fever syndromes.
Explain the AAP Clinical Practice Guideline development process.
Apply the new guidelines to their clinical practice.
Understand signs of abuse and misuse of controlled substances and the prevalence of opioid use disorder (OUD) in pregnancy
Discuss the presentation, assessment strategies and treatment of neonatal opioid withdrawal syndrome (NOWS).
Identify the long-term outcomes and risks associated with NOWS.
Understand the common types of pulmonary function testing available to pediatric physicians
