Event Description
This high-fidelity simulation is designed to strengthen clinical judgment, reinforce respiratory assessment skills, and promote safe, evidence-based interventions. During this simulation, participants will: Interpret arterial blood gas (ABG) results to guide clinical decision-making Administer and evaluate the effectiveness of respiratory medications Select and manage appropriate oxygen therapy modalities (e.g., nasal cannula, Venturi mask, non-rebreather) based on patient status Provide patient education on COPD management, inhaler use, breathing techniques, and lifestyle modifications Collaborate in a team-based setting to prioritize care and respond to changes in patient condition This simulation offers a safe space to apply critical thinking, refine hands-on skills, and build confidence in managing complex respiratory cases.
Objectives
- Interpret and apply arterial blood gas (ABG) results to assess respiratory status and guide clinical interventions for a patient with COPD.
- Demonstrate safe and effective administration of respiratory medications and selection of appropriate oxygen therapy modalities based on patient condition and evidence-based guidelines.
- Provide patient-centered education on COPD self-management strategies, including inhaler use, breathing techniques, and lifestyle modifications to promote long-term respiratory health.
Session Credits
Credit will be awarded based on participant selection at time of registration. Before selecting credits, participants are encouraged to review our Credit Glossary (opens in new tab) for general information. Please note that not all credit types are available for every program.
