Target Audience

This workshop will be beneficial to behavioral health and human service practitioners, including psychologists, social workers, counselors, marriage and family therapists, substance use and addictions professionals, clinicians and all others interested in this topic.

Event Description

Human service and community professionals often encounter clients/patients who present or have underlying Substance Use Disorders (SUDs). SUD professionals, who have worked in the field for decades, share their expertise, wisdom, and hope with professionals working with this population. This online 2-hour workshop consists of a moderator/panelist and 5 additional panelists. The workshop is being presented in order to capture the history of the North Carolina SUD field from their diverse personal perspectives (e.g., gender; sexual orientation; race) and roles (e.g., administrator, supervisor, counselor, trainer).

Objectives

  1. Discuss the history of the SUD field in North Carolina.
  2. Identify diverse perspectives based on personal characteristics and roles.
  3. Apply this information to their practice.
