Target Audience

This activity has been planned for medical, surgical, gynecologic and radiation oncologists, physicians in training, oncology nurses, clinical research associates and allied health professionals.

Event Description

The Charles L. Spurr symposium is designed for physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, navigators and other health care professionals dedicated to the field of hematology and oncology in settings across the continuum of care. Attendees will benefit from an interactive learning environment in which renowned faculty will present the latest in evidence based oncology care. This in-person meeting will provide didactic presentations and case studies so that participants will gain knowledge about best practice and new advances in treating oncology patients. Participants will return to practice with practical strategies for navigating therapeutic and diagnostic options and care delivery to improve patient outcomes.

Objectives

  1. Identify supportive care strategies to optimize the quality of life for head and neck cancer patients.
  2. Describe emerging trends shaping the development of novel cancer therapies.
  3. Apply evidence-based prevention and treatment strategies for clotting and bleeding complications in oncology patients.
  4. Summarize recent advances in the diagnosis and management of non-small cell lung cancer.
  5. Discuss the initial diagnosis, risk stratification, and treatment of CLL.
  6. Examine the role of antibody drug conjugates in the treatment of triple negative breast cancer.
  7. Utilize risk stratification to determine therapy selection for newly diagnosed AML patients.
  8. Discuss how the political environment impacts the delivery of cancer care.
  9. Summarize molecular features that influence treatment selection in urothelial cancer patients.
  10. Describe hematology advancements in the understanding of blood cell development.
