Event Description
This immersive simulation session is designed to enhance nursing competence in managing patients with diabetes through hands-on practice in medication administration and patient education. Participants will engage in a realistic clinical scenario that emphasizes blood glucose monitoring, insulin administration, recognition and response to hypo- and hyperglycemia, and effective patient teaching strategies. The session will also focus on promoting patient adherence, addressing lifestyle modifications, and using teach-back methods to ensure understanding. Through guided debriefing and reflective learning, participants will strengthen their clinical judgment, communication skills, and confidence in delivering safe, patient-centered diabetes care.
Objectives
- Demonstrate proper technique for blood glucose monitoring and insulin administration using simulation-based scenarios.
- Apply clinical judgment to recognize and respond appropriately to signs and symptoms of hypo- and hyperglycemia in simulated patient encounters.
- Effectively educate patients on diabetes self-management, including medication adherence, lifestyle modifications, and use of the teach-back method to confirm understanding.
