Event Description
Join us for an event designed to strengthen your skills in lactation support and empower the families you serve. This comprehensive training dives into both the foundations of chest/breastfeeding and the real-world problem-solving needed to help families succeed on their infant feeding journey. Grounded in Baby-Friendly principles, this course highlights the critical role healthcare professionals play in prenatal education, early initiation, and ongoing support—particularly when challenges arise. You’ll gain practical tools, evidence-based strategies, and confidence to guide patients through decisions, troubleshoot common concerns, and promote positive feeding outcomes.
Objectives
- Identify the effect of personal beliefs and attitudes on chest/breastfeeding.
- Discuss the benefits of chest/breastfeeding.
- Address perceived and absolute contraindications to chest/breastfeeding.
- Guide a patient through the infant feeding decision-making process.
- Assist a client with positioning and latch-on.
- Describe responsive infant feeding and the importance of feeding cues.
- Assess the effectiveness of breastfeeding and know when to refer for further assistance.
- Address the common reasons that a patient is experiencing breast pain.
- Identify solutions for breast pain.
- Explain the importance of establishing and maintaining milk supply.
- Identify factors that might impact milk supply and necessitate supplementation.
