Target Audience
This activity has been planned for medical, surgical, gynecologic and radiation oncologists, physicians in training, oncology nurses, clinical research associates and allied health professionals.
Event Description
The Charles L. Spurr symposium is designed for physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, navigators and other health care professionals dedicated to the field of hematology and oncology in settings across the continuum of care. Attendees will benefit from an interactive learning environment in which renowned faculty will present the latest in evidence based oncology care. This in-person meeting will provide didactic presentations and case studies so that participants will gain knowledge about best practice and new advances in treating oncology patients. Participants will return to practice with practical strategies for navigating therapeutic and diagnostic options and care delivery to improve patient outcomes.
Objectives
- Describe the expanding role of interventional radiology in cancer care, including image guided approaches for diagnosis, tumor directed treatment, symptom management, and supportive care across the continuum.
- Discuss recent updates in breast cancer management, including advances in targeted therapies, immunotherapy, and treatment approaches for early stage and metastatic disease.
- Review the current evidence on the role of the microbiome in cancer development, treatment response, and treatment-related toxicities, with an emphasis on clinically relevant findings across major cancer types.
- Integrate clinical evidence, patient-specific factors, and multidisciplinary perspectives to optimize decision-making in the management of complex oncology patient cases.
- Describe the principal biologic and pharmacology strategies for targeting RAS pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma.
- Recognize mechanism of RAS resistance in pancreatic cancer and strategies to overcome it.
