Event Description: The goal of this conference is to enhance the health care professional's understanding of current management techniques in providing care to the high-risk infant.
Objectives
Recognize early indicators of neonatal sepsis.
Implement evidence-based protocols and interventions for timely treatment and prevention of sepsis progression in neonatal intensive care settings.
Identify the short- and long-term physiological, neurological, and behavioral effects of prenatal substance exposure on newborns.
Develop effective care strategies to manage withdrawal symptoms, support neurodevelopment, and engage families in the care of substance-exposed infants.
Evaluate the unique nutritional challenges and requirements of high-risk newborns to support growth and development.
Implement effective feeding strategies to address feeding difficulties and promote optimal outcomes.
Explore the psychological and physical effects of chronic stress and secondary trauma in neonatal care settings, and recognize signs of burnout and compassion fatigue.
Develop practical tools and strategies, including mindfulness, peer support, and organizational interventions, to promote well-being and resilience.
