REQUIRED: TWO REGISTRATIONS:
1. Register above through Northwest AHEC.
2. Go to the NNPTC website and register. This second registration is required by our funder, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, in order to offer this program free of charge.

We recognize that much of this information is redundant, but registration is required in BOTH systems to attend the event and to receive continuing education credits.Registration will close at 12 PM EST on March 30.

The 2021 Update will provide up-to-date information on prevention, management and treatment of sexually transmitted infections (STIs). The program will also include a panel discussion with case studies that will review common disease states that may complicate treatment, explore emerging infections, and discuss the future of testing technique implementation.
Objectives
Review of North Carolina’s STI/HIV epidemiology.
Discuss COVID-19 impact on NC’s STI/HIV prevention efforts.
Explain updates on Medicaid family planning changes related to sexual health.
Describe strategies to reduce HIV infection in vulnerable populations using Medicaid levers.
Identify benefits of HPV vaccinations and target demographic groups.
Examine HPV epidemiology regarding age and demographics.
Name new testing platforms for STIs that the NCSLPH plans to implement.
Describe challenges faced with STI testing during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Recognize the clinical manifestations of syphilis, including primary/secondary syphilis and neurosyphilis.
Discuss the serological antibody response after treatment of syphilis.
Review the clinical manifestations and current epidemiology of gonorrhea including resistance trends.
Discuss updates to the CDC Recommended Treatment for Gonorrhea.
Discuss challenging cases in STI management encountered in outpatient clinical practice.
