Event Description: This is an exciting five-day seminar in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina at the beautiful Kingston Plantation. The courses are 8:00 am- 12:30 daily so the participants may enjoy the sun and fun of the coast. Participants can earn 20-26 hours of Continuing Dental Education Credit.

This year's activity will feature specific lectures for the entire dental office team. A keynote luncheon is provided on the first day of the seminar. Please refer to course listing for specific topics, times and location.

The seminar was named in memory of our colleague and friend, Dr. Charles R. Jerge who initially founded this meeting. Schedule for Each Day:

Objectives

The participant will discover updates in clinical dentistry in areas such as pain management, digital dentistry, risk management, and others.

Discuss different levels of digital implementation, from digital impressions to in-office milling and 3D printing.

Recognize the advantages of digital implementation and why it’s so important to get the whole dental team to buy in.

Review common pitfalls and obstacles that clinicians face when first making this transition in their practices.

Summarize traumatic Dental injuries with emphasis on athletic related dental and facial injuries.

Review diagnosis and treatment of dental traumatic injuries.

Generalize guidelines for immediate and long-term management of traumatic dental injuries.

Explain why patient education doesn’t always work, and what to do about it.

Develop effective yet comfortable sales skills

Formulate how to triple treatment case acceptance

Predict how to increase production and profitability while increasing patient care

Describe occurrences in the dental office that can result in injury to patients

Summarize the latest information about the top ten causes of liability

Conclude the importance of a thorough charting protocol

Describe the role of the patient in decision-making

Practice informed consent protocol in treatment planning

Demonstrate how periodontal disease is an inflammatory disease mainly expressed through the relationship between bacteria, yeast, and viruses and a unique immunoinflammatory response.

Examine the connection between periodontal disease and many systemic conditions mainly vascular disease and vascular biology.

Describe precision personalized periodontal medicine utilizing metrics such as salivary diagnostics as an evidence-based approach for improved outcomes in dental/medical management.

Recognize the consequences of inappropriate opioid prescribing.

Summarize the mechanisms of opioid action and the transition from misuse to abuse and dependence.

Describe the pain treatment paradigm as an alternative to opioid prescribing for dental pain.

Demonstrate the importance of service standards and their impact on a practice.

Identify and match the team’s communication strengths

Develop skills in engaging with customers and handling their concerns effectively

Identify ways value may be to customer relationships and exceed expectations

Prepare staff to handle demanding patients and difficult situations

Recognize the properties of composite resin

Summarize the history of placing direct composite resin veneers

Recognize preparation features and restoration designs that enhance clinical performance of resin veneers
