Event Description: ECHO Autism for Primary Care Providers is an online learning and guided practice model that is revolutionizing professional health education. The primary goal of ECHO Autism is to move knowledge, not people, by facilitating knowledge-sharing between those who care for and support individuals with autism and their families. The primary goal of ECHO Autism for Primary Care Providers is to share knowledge between primary care providers practicing in local communities with specialist care teams regardless of geographic location. Participants will have a chance to discuss cases with experts and colleagues to learn about evidence-based care.
The ECHO Autism model of “All Teach, All Learn” is a unique approach that focuses on peer-to-peer learning and collaborative problem solving. Sessions are hosted in a teleconsultation format involving a mix of brief didactic presentations and in-depth case consultations. The largest portion of learning in any ECHO session occurs during participant case presentations where experts and participants alike share recommendations and resources. These robust discussions are complemented by brief expert-led didactic presentations which allow for learning about comorbid conditions and concerns in children with autism.
