Event Description:
This level has self-paced modules, followed by a short Zoom meeting with the group and instructor. You will have access to the modules one week before the Zoom meeting with the instructor. The modules are required to be completed before the Zoom meetings.
Note: If you do not complete the modules and attend the Zoom meeting, you will not be able to attend future levels.

This foundational course starts the series and is designed to improve the skills of individuals who provide or wish to provide interpreter services in any language in health or
human services settings. Participants will learn the primary roles, ethics and techniques of professional interpreting, with an emphasis on medical interpretation.
Objectives
Discuss the nine Principles and 32 Standards (National Code of Ethics for Interpreters) for professional interpretation established by the National Council for Interpreters in Health Care (NCIHC).
Develop an appreciation for the competencies required for professional interpretation.
Identify professional interpreter resources to use for continued professional development.
Identify culturally competent interpreter practices.

Audience
Bilingual individuals who currently provide interpreter services or intend to provide interpreter services, in any language, in any health or human services settings. Also, supervisors
of interpreters or anyone who writes or implements Title VI compliance policies.
